I’ve know Emily since we were freshmen in College. I gave her a ride to a backyard barbeque because she was a friend of a friend, and we’ve been friends ever since. We’ve been on countless mountain hikes and planned our next adventure over beer. I was even there when she cut her bangs for the first time. So it was an honor to photograph Emily and Matt Miller’s wedding.
Emily was beautiful on her wedding day in Steamboat, Colorado. She and Matt had a wedding tailor-made for them. Staying true to her passion for mountain biking, Emily made all the decorations out of bike parts. She wound chains up for candleholders and set wine bottles on disc brake rotators and chain rings. The cupcakes rested on bike spokes covered in mesh. Matt, being from Wisconsin, had his family bring New Glarus beer for the toast. But my favorite part was when Emily’s dad prayed over the new couple during the ceremony. You could tell how loved both Emily and Matt are and how God is part of that love.
